Our client is a global leading alternative asset management firm with offices in over 20 cities across 16 countries and 4 continents. Our client sponsors investment funds that invest in private equity, credit and real assets and has strategic partners that manage hedge funds.
POSITION SUMMARY
Our client is seeking a Senior Accountant or Accounting Manager to join its Credit division in San Francisco. The opportunity is to work on our client's Private Credit / Multi-Strategy Credit funds. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of success and advancement in prior roles and will be a person who has demonstrated strong technical fund and problem solving skills and is also someone who has a great appetite for knowledge and professional growth.
RESPONSIBILITIES
• Perform fund accounting work in our accounting systems
• Responsible for detailed equity accounting and analysis, including complex partnership equity accounting analysis and management fee / carried interest computations
• Active role in fund reporting including preparation of quarterly financial statements, performance returns, and LP-specific statements. Also prepare annual GAAP financial statements and coordination of audits with external auditors
• Involvement with operational duties including capital calls, capital distributions, and liquidity management
• Assist with ad-hoc requests, investor questions, and frequent interaction with our marketing / client management and legal departments
• Frequent project coordination work
• Assist in driving accounting, reporting and business process simplification and efficiency initiatives
QUALIFICATIONS
• Professional with at least +3 years (Senior Accountant) or +5 years (Accounting Manager) of accounting or industry experience with an understanding of private funds, partnership accounting and financial instruments
• Undergraduate degree required. CPA and/or advanced degree in finance or related field preferred
• Strong verbal and written communications skills with the ability to interact with all levels of the organization
• Advanced user of Excel and highly proficient with MS Word and MS PowerPoint
• Prior experience with Investran and/or Geneva is preferred, but not required
• Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a growing environment
• Proven ability to manage multiple demands and projects in a fast-paced work environment, including ability to prioritize time efficiently and handle heavy workloads while remaining attentive to detail
• Highly developed planning and organizational skills; able to anticipate change, adjust responses accordingly, and initiate steps to maximize resources toward a common objective
